Honestly? I don’t agree. I think the “white” people you’re referring to are the idiotic racists that DO exist, but just because you’re white…it doesn’t make you a racist nor does make you believe that you’re innately better than those who aren’t white. I’m white, yes, but I grew up in a very “diversely urban” environment.  I had to learn to acclimate to brown and black culture for survival myself.  I was constantly cornered for being white and because of the color of my skin, it was automatically assumed that I was a racist bitch hell bent on maintaining my position of power.  If I didn’t understand the culture of those different than myself I would have never made it out alive.  Whites were harassed simply for being white because in this country, it is believed that being white = racist and ignorant.  There are areas in this country where whites ARE NOT the majority, and we are discriminated against simply for who we are the same way People of color are discriminated in other areas simply for the color of their skin.  Is this true for everywhere in the country? Of course not, and I will never say try to act as if my “struggle” is anywhere on the same level as the mistreatment of POC, I’m just frustrated for constantly having to PROVE that I’m not a racist.  It’s as if being white automatically means I’m a racist and I have to prove myself otherwise.  THAT, my friends, is also racism.
